Otherwise the quality of the way it is made would be what I would be after. For instance I went to look at a BC Rich Mockingbird. I had never played one. I was impressed with the neck and frets. I was not impressed with the tremolo, the switches or the inability to reach the upper frets.

I suppose if I was going for showy shape I would choose a Carvin V220 above all else or a star shaped guitar. If I was going for pure quality of instrument I guess I would be going for a Gretsch White Falcon, Chet Atkins series or upper series of Gibson. Personally I am lucky to have a stratocaster. Someday I will by some Carvins or Warmoth parts to mix and match and see what I can get. I just can't see scalloping the frets on a Gretsch guitar that costs $3000. I can see doing it to a $500 Carvin or MIM Strat. It just depends. I do paint and all as well. I have drawn several houses in Lawrence and painted a couple pictures of them as well as painted them. So painting a flower or octopus on a guitar would not be too much to consider doing, but walking up to me and saying. Look at the yellow guitars. I am sure it would sound better on the Ibanez yellow guitar or the LTD tiger striped guitar. I just have to say that was stupid, and the fellow suggesting it called me an idiot. I was looking at pickups and necks and electronics. I still favor the Gretsch White Falcon above all else and if I could I would get the upright bass as well from the store. As it is though I play a Strat though junky ibanez amp. If I could afford a yellow guitar, it might look something like......
