Can you make a bass guitar out of Mahogany?

For £30 per week I get to go make my own guitar, and I have always like mahogany.
But I know its a very heavy expensive hard wood that is used for furniture and doors and so on.
I'm not sure if it would be an appropriate type of wood for
Sure you can. The Gibson EB-3 was mahogany, as was its guitar cousin, the SG.
Many solid-body guitars and basses have been made of mahogany.
Mahogany is used frequently in acoustic guitar construction too.

Trouble tuning a guitar with a floyd rose?

I recently got a Charvel San Dimas, and have been trying to tune a half step down. After I tune all the strings down, a few seconds later, the pitch on the strings start to raise. I check my tuner, and each string appears to be slowly moving back to standard
Alex is correct. You need to change the spring tension in the back. Its very annoying to keep changing the tuning on a Floyd, so its good to have a fixed bridge guitar laying around for doing that if you want to keep changing.
