I need a good starter Amp. Thanks. can anyone be so kind as to explain the ins and outs of electric guitar? what i need... what i should know. Im trying to take this seriously and any help is good. Im not just depending on yahoo trust me im going to go to school for it and teach myself everything i need to know. My goal is to become good enough to write my own music with it. Im kind of goign off a dream i believe had true meaning. anyone is welcome to answer. I already know I need an amp,new pick-ups, picks, a strap, a guitar bag. can someone explain to me what else i need to know, refer me to any good books. and anything else. AND OH YEAH MY inspirations are slash, tom morello, chuck berry, jimi hendrix, michael angelo batio, angus young, and bb king. thanks guys. im late on learing im already 19 so dont bash me on that lol.
ESP... Great choice!!! I have an F-500.
Anyway, I find the Line 6: Spider 3 to be a good cheap amp. It is a 15 watt amp. It sounds clean and fresh with minimal unwanted feedback.
I have been playing guitar for like 8 or so years, so what do you want to know about the inns and outs? If you want me to help with that,
e-mail me your questions. I'll tell you now, guitar takes a ton of hard work. Getting stuck in a rutt is NEVER fun, but the rest of guitaring is one of the most enjoyable things you could do. You don't necissarily need new pickups, unless you bought it used, and they are shot. You should start with basic cheap equipment in case you decide you don't like playing. Sure you need picks. A strap only if you are going to stand up and play a lot, although sitting down in best for practicing. A guitar bag is good, and when you get a better guitar, you need to get an actual hard-case. Any of the idiots guide books are good for learning guitar basics, but beyond the basics it is best to learn yourself so that you develope your own playstyle. THAT is the number one most important thing in guitar is your own style, which is hard to come by if you learn everything from books and other people.
On a different note, you should look into other guitarists as well that are less popular. I'm gonna get a lot of hate from everybody for this, but Angus Young is not very good at all. Neither is Jimi Hendrix. Jimi was good for his time, but he actually plays VERY basic. Slash is good, an Morello is inventive (though I hate Rage). Batio is too concerned with speed, but he is good. BB king is exelent as is Chuck Berry. You should look into Joe Satriani, or the guitarists for Queensryche. They are very good guitarists. Less popular bands with good guitarists would be Kamelot or Crimson Glory.
Good luck, and if you want any more help just e-mail me.
