What would be the repercussions of installing two Celestion G12H's in a Fender Twin Reverb reissue?
My question is this; would I be able to use the G12H speakers in a Fender Twin Reverb reissue, rated at 85 watts? The Twin Reverb has very high volume capabilities, the OEM speakers are two 12's rated at 8 ohms, 100 watts each. So if I installed your Celestion G12H 30 watt speakers, would they blow very easily in a 85 watt Twin Reverb because of the high volume? Or what do you think would be the difference between the two speakers?
you will most likely find that the new speakers will be much more efficient (possibly louder)
having more power from your amp then the rating of your speakers is a good thing,
The worse thing to do is have a small wattage amp driving high wattage speakers - in worse case your amp distirs (sending dc square waves) to your speakers and blowing them.
dont confuse this with distortion you might create cranking up your input on the twin to get distrated sound.
for example in my own PA system I ran 1000watss to my 2 woofers only rated at 300wats each - i never blew a speaker even when i was close to clipping on the amp - having more power saves your speakers.
syaing that of course if you run your twin on 10 all the time eventually you will blow the speaker , even one with more wattage
check out older marshall 4x12 cabinets they all had 25 watt speakers in them runniong off a 100 watt head
