What happened to the Gibson Les Paul Special?
i have a Gibson Les Paul Special, and i was browsing through the Gibson site and no where does it mention the guitar, even in the search box.. so whats up?
Hard to say
Gibson has started and stopped the production of MANY of their guitars over the years,
I'v seen them discontinue the Special many times,
they have always brought it back again.
The LP Special goes back to the 1950's.
(the LP Jr is the same guitar, but with one pickup)
I'm sure it will be back, in a couple months

They even discontinued ALL Les Pauls, as we know them, in 1960.
They made what is now know as the "SG Les Paul" for a couple years, then discontinued the "Les Paul" name completely, and continued the guitar as "The SG" (Spanish Guitar).
Around '68, Gibson brought the Les Paul back, and have kept it in production ever since,
though it has gone through many changes, and some models (like the Special) have come and gone several times.
