Is the Brian Setzer Gretsch a Semi Hollow or Hollow body guitar?

Can a bigsby be installed on a Hollowbody?
Hello there,
According to Gretsch's own description of the Brian Setzer series the guitars are in the hollow body category. You can take a look for yourself at this link. Clink on the guitar of interest. When that page opens you will see a link the the specs (just below the magnifying glass link). Gretsch lists them as hollow body guitars.

It will be a hollow body based on the Chet Atkins Nashville model.
And I expect the Brian Setzer Gretsch will already have a Bigsby on it. If not though, one could be installed.

It is considered a "semi hollow" body, since it is thinner than a full deep body.
Bibsbys can be installed on most any archtop hollow body, you just have to make sure that it is designed for the hollow body (It attaches at the bottom of the body, not at the bottom of the "top" of the guitar. like some solid bodies do)
edit
I'll clarify
I guess Gretsch considers it a Hollow Body, which it is,
the rest of the world considers it a "Semi Hollow"
because it is not the deep body, that the "full body" arch top electrics are.

what gage & brand strings does brian setzer use on his gretsch nashville guitar?

I know he plays fairly heavy flatwounds starting with a .012 high E. I'm not sure which brand, but I do know that Fender makes a set of flatwould 12s (.012 - .052). He uses their amps, so it's possible.
There are a few other manufacturers that make flatwounds as well, but that's not the most common set in the world. Expect to pay around $6.50 - 7.00 a set even at discount music stores, more if you go for a more boutique string like Thomastik-Infeld. You might be best off going with mail order since most stores will have to special order them anyway.
