Can I use my acoustic guitar amplifier for an Electric Drum Kit?
Mar 15, 2009 by Greeneyedboy | Posted in Other - Music
I have a Fender Acoustasonic Junior, am getting an electric drum kit, and was just wondering if I could plug a Roland TD-4 electric drum kit in that amp, while still sounding medium-good? I don't want to screw up my amp, cuz I regularly play guitar on it... Thanks.
It will make noise, but will be far from ideal.
Guitar amps are optimized for, er...guitars. That means a limited low and high end, and peaked midrange normally.
Electronic drums have a very wide frequency range (think about from the kick drum to the high hat). You would be better off with a keyboard amp or small PA. You want something that will handle a line level output from the drum brain, and have a wide frequency response, which usually entails having a larger speaker and some type of horn or tweeter.
Good luck.

Turn the volume down on drums if it has an amp or preamp
incase it overdrives and damages you guitar amp.
Before connecting to guit amp.
Should be ok.

Which electric Guitar Amp should I get for practice and small gigs?
Jan 08, 2007 by Sporadic | Posted in Blues
Please help me choose an amp for electric guitar. I want an amp suitable for home practice and in band and playing small gigs.
Recently made a move from acoustic to electric, but have little experience with the amps. I play Jazz/blues/funk/rock (in that order) with a les paul standard. No real heavy stuff. I've narrowed it down to the following amps, and my favorite so far based on quality is the Zoom Fire-36. http://www.zoom.co.jp/english/products/f ire36/
but not sure if it will do the job for small gigs being 36 W
My second choice is the Marshall, Behringer or Ashton.
Any comments or suggestions?
Zoom FIRE-36 Modelling Guitar amp (36 W, 10" speaker)
Marshall MG250DFX 2x50watt 2x12 Electric Guitar Amplifier
Behringer V-AMPIRE LX1-112 2x50 watt
Behringer GMX212 2x50 watt V-Tone
Ashton GA100 100 watt
Roland CUBE-60 60 watt
I'd say go into a local guitar store and try them all out, see what sounds best to you.
I used to have a Marshall JCM800 1x12 50Watt combo which was really nice, but you can only get them on ebay these days.
Next thing I'm getting is a Roland Jazz Chorus 120Watt 2x12 combo. Try one at your local shop, you'll be blown away punchy this baby sounds, and it comes with quality effects built in. They go for a little less that $900, save if you don't have the cash now, you'll not regret it.
