Hanley Leads Off For Marlins In Series Finale

06/06/10 12:38 PM ET

Tankersley holding down lefty duties in 'pen NEW YORK -- By his own lofty standards, Hanley Ramirez is having a down year.

Looking to figure out a way to get his All-Star shortstop going, Marlins manager Fredi Gonzalez is returning Ramirez to a spot in the lineup that he prospered in his early big league seasons.

For the first time since Sept. 27, 2008, Ramirez found himself leading off.

Don't look for the move to be permanent, but it will be at least a couple of games. Ramirez was in the top spot on Sunday when the Marlins faced the Mets in their series finale at Citi Field. Chances are he also will bat first on Tuesday at Philadelphia.

"Normally I give a guy a day off," Gonzalez said of when a player is slumping. "But we're off [Monday]. He knows that he is scuffling right now, and he wants to stay in the lineup, which is a good thing."

Does anyone own an Ibanez S series guitar?

Does anyone own an Ibanez S series guitar? If so, what are some of the positive, or negative aspects to it.

I don't own one but my friend does and I've played it a couple of times. I'm not a fan of Ibanez electrics but for some reason I like the S series models (the S470DXQM) in particular. I love the quilt maple and the fact that it weighs pretty little. It's thin in the right places but fat where it needs to be. The Zero Resistance bridge is pretty neat. The neck is flat and easy to play leads on. The pick ups are hot and perform well on loud amps (no feedback). The only complaint I have is that it's a hassle to change guitar strings, but that's another issue...

What do you think about Ibanez Artcore series guitars?

I'm looking into buying a hollow body guitar and after searching on the internet the Ibanez range seems promising. Has anyone had experience with these kind of guitars? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I spent quite a bit of time looking for a decent hollow-body in the $300-$500 price range. I ended up getting an artcore AF75D.

In my opinion there really isn't a better hollow body that even comes close to the AF or AG series, in terms of bang for your buck.

Epiphone has a few models in this price range, but I thought they all felt kind of weak, and cheap feeling. Ibanez really has the market cornered for inexpensive hollow bodies.

Just for the sake of completeness, I'll point out that if you want to spend between $500-1000, Gretsch (the kings of hollow bodies, imo) has a line of low-end guitars called Electromatics. I strongly considered one of these, but to be honest, they didn't seem much better than the less expensive Ibanez'es. Gretsch doesn't really stand out unless you get their mid-to-high end guitars (roughly $2000+).

So in short, my experience is that in the $300-500 price range, an artcore AF or AG is your best bet, BY FAR. Even in the $500-1000 range, I didn't feel there was anything better. So unless you plan to spend over $1000, an Artcore is the way to go.

**Edit** By the way... I don't know if this will necessarily be the case for you, but the one I got was set up terribly! The bridge was completely misaligned, the action was waaaay too high, the intonation was way off, etc. But i just set it up myself and it played wonderfully. If you don't know how to set up a guitar, just take it to a luthier or guitar shop and they'll set it up for you for about $30-50 or so. It's worth it (unless you get really lucky and it's set up good from the factory)
