Martin D-35 neck help?
I have a Martin D-35 acoustic guitar, and I need some help. I noticed that near the 12th fret and higher, it sounds cheap and the strings rattle. I just adjusted the neck and it still seems to sound this way. I also noticed that the neck is a little bent. Should I just get it set up or is there any way I can save 50 dollars, by doing something myself?
I just found the year was 2004. thanks for the advice, because I am going to take it. I'm gonna take it to be setup. thanks alot.
without seeing the guitar, I can't give you a good answer
It could be the truss rod, if it has an adjustable one,
(Martin did not always have an adjustable one,)
We don't know how old your guitar is, or if it has a "an adjustable rod"
It's not that easy to do a neck adjust, if you haven't done them before,
You have to know which way to turn, and far to turn the rod.
You don't want the neck perfectly flat,
it needs a "little relief" or the strings will buzz all the time.
It could be the neck pitch, not likely but I have seen it.
Factory would probably do it under warranty.
Could be the bridge is a little too low, needs a shim under the saddle,
that's not too hard.
Could be bad fret(s) up there.
don't try this yourself, you need special tools, to "crown" the frets.
I'd spend the money.
that's too nice a guitar, to ruin,
and if you mess it up,
it will cost you a LOT more than $50 to "re" repair.
