Tigers 10, Athletics 2: Scherzer Fans 14 In Return To Big Leagues
And fix himself while at Toledo Scherzer obviously did, judging by the tremendously impressive way he pitched in the Tigers' 10-2 victory over the Oakland A's on Sunday at Comerica Park.
Fourteen strikeouts.
Just two short of Mickey Lolich's team record. Just one short of equaling the most strikeouts any other Tigers' right-hander has ever had.
Up with the elite strikeout performances of all time by a Tiger, in other words. Pretty good, eh?
"I didn't know we were going against a team that had just woken up Cy Young," said Scherzer's starting counterpart Dallas Braden. "He didn't give us a chance."
But consider this: Scherzer reached that total in 5 2/3 innings, becoming the first major league pitcher since at least 1953 to strike out more than 13 batters in less than six innings.
Seventeen outs, 14 strikeouts? You just don't see that kind of ratio.
But eventually his pitch count caught up to him.
With two outs in the sixth, Scherzer walked Jack Cust, then hit Mark Ellis with a pitch -- and that sequence, along with an arduous 10-pitch strikeout of Kevin Kouzmanoff before the walk to Cust, elevated Scherzer to 113 pitches for the afternoon.

What strings produce the best sound for an Ovation 1778 Elite LX guitar?
Dec 03, 2006 by Lars | Posted in Blues
I have an Ovation 1778 Elite LX guitar that needs new strings, bad. I know heavy and medium strings wont work to well with it, so I dont know.
I recommend Dean Markley Phosphorous Bronze roundwound lights for all my customers with "plastic" guitars. Much richer sounding.

Have you ever played an Ovation guitar? What do you think of it?

Any of you ever play the Ovation Elite T series 2078T with the contoured back? How much is a good price for that guitar? Thanks.
I have owner several Ovations over the years. I'm actually wanting to buy another now. I bought my daughter one for Christmas a few years back and just love the sound of it. I owned one that I didn't care for the sound quality though. Like all guitars, each instrument, I think, has it's own distinct tonal qualities. No two are alike. SO when I buy a new guitar, I test drive as many as I can first. Until I find the right one. The one that is pleasing to my ears and my body. SOme guitars just 'fit' better than others. And the sound is more to your personal liking. Ovations are not what you would call inexpensive. You can get a Celebrity model for around $300. And go up from there. I've seen a few go for less at some places. I believe Ovation is a step-up in quality. SO if you are serious about your music, then go for it. Find one that fits your budget and then go for the sound. Good Luck to you.
