Can you use a Rickenbacker 12-string as a 6-string by removing the higher octave strings?
Well, for Christmas this year, I'm going to ask and hope for a Rickenbacker. If I go with the 12, most likely a 330/12, could I just take off the higher octave strings and play it like a 6-string safely? Or would I need to adjust the neck or something
yes you can do it, but the neck will probably need adjusting
You are reducing the tension by quite a bit)
If Rick still uses 2 truss rods, take it to a pro to adjust it,
I've seen several Ricks necks messed up by amateur
