What strings should I buy for a Takamine acoustic guitar?

I am pretty new to playing the guitar and I recently bought a Takamine acoustic guitar from a friend. The guitar looks great, but he cut all of the strings off because they were old and he said they needed new ones. I felt a little embarrassed to ask him at the time, but what kind of strings should I put on the guitar?
Martin and D'Addario make great acoustic strings. I'd go with light or medium gauge

Its all based on preference. I kinda like elixers.

Beginner or not? Good or shitty? It's on ebay. It sounds good, but then again, what do I know about any guitar? If you have or had experiance with it, tell me.
Thanks!
Yeah, judging from the current replys I won't do ebay, but I really need to stay within a $0 - $200 price range.
Takamine makes excellent guitars, and Jasmine is their introductory model. I've played a lot of guitars, and I've played expensive Takamine's and Jasmines. Yes, there is a sound difference (solid woods, and lacquer choices make for your sound). The more you spend the better, but if you're just starting, find a guitar that you feel comfortable with, and that will stay in tune, and that your local guitar shop can help if problems develop. Takamine, Ibanez, Fender and Yamaha all can meet these criteria. If you're experienced, go with something more experience.
