What is the different between koa and figured koa wood on guitars?

That pretty much sums it up, i was look at the Takamine EF508KC and it says its Figured Koa all around but is that mean that its fake koa wood ? help me out musicians out there!
Figured simply means that it has more attractive grain patterns.

takamine or epiphone?

I'm currently stuck in between the choice of settling for a epiphone ej-200ce jumbo acoustic electric or a takamine g-series,eg544sc-4c koa cutaway acoustic electric. I've played a jasmine acoustic by takamine for ages and love the feel of the neck, but yet i haven't played a jumbo epiphone before. I'm an aspiring singer/songwriter looking for an essential guitar. which of the two seem to win? thanks for you time folks!
