Can I use furniture polish on a vintage gibson les paul to clean it up? or will it clog the pores of the wood?

My stepdad recently passed and me and my mom kept his vintage les paul..its a beautiful guitar and I want to make it shine so it looks nice. I could just go buy some guitar polish, but would regular lemon pledge make it shine without making the guitar less of value? and is there anything else i could use?
Like the other guy said. DO NOT use anything but guitar polish and cleaner. Pledge could possibly damage the finish, and will have an effect on sound if it good into the wood. Guitar cleaner and polish is your best bet.

Stick to the guitar polish, dont use anything else, it could damage the finish. It isnt expensive to buy guitar cleaner, and they will have it at any music store that sells guitars.

Whats the difference between a Gibson Les Paul Vintage Mahogany and a Gibson Les Paul Standard guitar?

Hi DJ
I own a 2008 LP Standard and , although no comparison to my old 1969 Les Paul Gold Top, this one is so light and the neck is thicker on the bass side, so it fits the hand better than previous models.
The neck is slightly fatter so YES, the sustain on this guitar is the longest compared to any other model. Very versatile guitar.
Solid build quality, tone control are not that great since they only response from 1 to 3 and from 3 to 10, no difference LOL. All-in-all, whether you play blues or heavy metal, this guitar is worth every dollar.
The Les Paul vintage is almost a copy of my old 1953 Les Paul Special red-cherry except for the pickups and single cutaway and minie is flat not arched.
The only noticable difference between this guitar and the Standard, is the pickups, and no binding and the finish is satin like. This guitar really has the 50-60's sound like my old Les Paul. It has a long enduring sustain on it, so you can hold notes longer. With the Burstbucker pickups, that eas expected. The action is lower than the Standard and buzz-free or almost.
This guitar fits any style of classic to modern and even punk.
What I don't like is the soft wood which is easy to dent if you don't watch it.
But, to be honest, the Standard over-all, is a better quality-finished guitar and the sustain is much much much better.
Good Luck :)
