Brownback, Running Mate To Tour State

— The 2010 Kansas governor’s race will heat up today as Republican Sam Brownback announces his pick for lieutenant governor.

Speculation has focused on state Sen. Jeff Colyer, a physician and a conservative Republican from Overland Park.

After Brownback makes his announcement, he and his running mate will go on an eight-city, two-day statewide tour starting in Overland Park and stopping in Topeka, Pittsburg, Wichita, Hutchinson, Garden City, Hays and Salina. The appearance in Hays will be at Thomas More Preparatory School-Marian, from which Colyer graduated in 1978.

So far, Brownback faces opposition in the Aug. 3 Republican Party primary from political newcomer Joan Heffington of Derby, whose running mate is Mark Holick, a pastor.

The Democratic candidate who has gotten the endorsement of party leaders is state Sen. Tom Holland of Baldwin City. Holland hasn’t announced a running mate.

Brownback’s choice of a running mate could provide a sneak peek at what a Brownback administration would be like if he became governor.

Roy Halladay, Jarrod Washburn, Scott Kazmir, Victor Martinez, someone no one is expecting that is a big name...

I think it will be roy halladay to the dodgers because ned colleti is feeling the heat now that the dodgers are struggling and the phillies got lee. plus, kershaw and billingsley are no longer required. i think he will be dealt in the final minutes.

The dodgers have already said they don't wanna break up their core of young players, so i don't think they'll trade kershaw or bills for halladay. the price would have to come down a lot and the dodgers would need a third team to pitch in for the trade (could happen). but i think it's gonna be victor martinez. now that lee's gone i think the indians r gonna get rid of him for some prospects and officially do into full rebuilding mode.

Here are my options: Max Scherzer, Randy Johnson, Ubaldo Jimenez, Aaron Cook, Nick Blackburn, Scott Richmond, Rick Porcello, Jared Washburn, Dallas Braden, Joel Pinero, Bronson Arroyo, Carl Pavano.

Which of these is my best option?
I really need to work on my wins, losses, and ERA.

Nick Blackburn has been a beast for the Twins, he'd be my #1 option. Outside of him, I'd look to Porcello or Pinero. Jimenez walks too many hitters.
